Stumble Twitter is now live on Heroku
Yeah, I finally bit the bullet and learned how to deploy it on Heroku. Wasn't painless. I tried following the Pythonanywhere tutorial but it didn't work and I gave up after a couple of tries. The Heroku tutorial itself wasn't super relevant to my need, I had to follow part of it and then go watch a youtube video and then stumble around (haha) for a bit before I managed to get it up and running.
Took me around 5 deployments to get it working properly and am now at ~10 deployments.
Here are some screenshots

I realize screenshots on this blog may not be the best way to showcase it but well, it's what you get for now.
What is this that I've built? Is it a web application? Is it a website?
It is definitely in usable state. I can totally use it to visit new websites and appropriately tag the and even search through the results.
The only issues are when I share them with people -
I have to explain them what it is
I have to explain them where the links are sourced from
I have to explain why the tagging is there
I primarily built it for me, right? Well yeah but I'd like it if people used it.
I shared it with 3 friends and an unknown number of strangers.
I use it because I see some benefit in this. Would I want people to use it even if it didn't benefit them and just for my sake? No. Okay, how do I make it useful to them then? I ask them. Ah, the classic 'talk to your customers'.
I now have a choice. Do I continue with this project or do I put it on pause while I try something else?
I definitely feel like I'm onto something with this idea. But when you're just starting out, quantity is more important than quality. You can see the sharp difference in quality between my project 1 and 2.
I think I'll start something new. I'll continue using Stumble Twitter along the way and keep making small changes here and there.
Okay, what do I want to do?
Nothing springs to mind. (and something did just as I wrote that). I did think of wanting to try out http://warrior.js.org/ a couple of days ago. I've been working in Python of late but React/Javascript were the things I wanted to eventually turn to. I felt trying out warriorjs would be a nice way to wean myself back into Javascript.
I think I'll think about it tonight and choose something by tomorrow.
